HF Holidays is offering one lucky National Geographic Traveller (UK) reader the chance to win a guided walking trip in the northern Lake District for two
The Experience
Located near the market town of Keswick and within easy reach of Borrowdale valley and Scafell Pike, Derwent Bank is a country house set in grounds that slope towards Derwentwater — the so-called ‘Queen of the Lakes’ because of its beautiful setting. Built in 1785, it has 40 guest rooms, some of which face the fells of Grisedale Pike and Cat Bells. There’s also a bar, orangery, outdoor terrace and formal gardens with a croquet lawn and putting green.

With the help of an experienced walking guide, your days here can be spent exploring fells, crossing rivers and ascending summits in and around the northern Lake District. Highlights include hiking sections of the Cumbria Way, following the Ullswater Way and marvelling at the flow of the Aira Force waterfall.
The Prize
Courtesy of HF Holidays, an award-winning and B Corp-certified British heritage brand, the winner and a guest will spend seven nights at Derwent Bank, enjoying daily guided walks. The prize includes accommodation in a double or twin room with breakfasts, as well as daily packed lunches and three-course dinners, and a cream tea on arrival day. All transport to and from walks is provided. Guests will need to make their own travel arrangements to and from the property. Valid for travel between 21 March and 3 October 2025.
