Why Does Gleam Show a Facebook URL Redirect Error?

Gleam rejects some Facebook URLs because Facebook sends them through several redirects, and a clean desktop URL fixes it.

Gleam checks every URL when you add it to a campaign. Facebook uses long redirect chains between its own domains, and some Facebook URLs show different content to a check like ours than they show to a logged-in person. Our check reads either one as an error, which is where the "max redirects" message comes from.

  1. Use the desktop version of the URL and not the mobile one (m.facebook.com).
  2. Copy the URL straight from your browser's address bar while you're logged in to Facebook, not from the Share button.
  3. For a Page, use the format https://www.facebook.com/PageName and not the numeric ID version.
  4. Paste it into your Facebook Action again.

If a Facebook URL vanishes when you save a draft campaign, publish the campaign first and add the URL afterwards. If the URL is definitely correct and the error stays, send us the URL and a screenshot through our contact form.
