Did Google Remove FAQ Rich Results?

Yes. On 7 May 2026, Google stopped showing FAQ rich results — the expandable question-and-answer dropdowns under search listings — for every type of site. Reporting in Search Console follows in June 2026, and Search Console API support ends in August 2026.

The markup itself is not dead. FAQPage structured data is still a valid schema type, and Google has confirmed it will keep using it to understand your pages, even though it no longer renders the visual dropdown. You do not need to remove existing FAQ schema.

What changes is the reason to write FAQs. They are no longer a way to win extra space in the results; they are a way to answer the real questions people ask — including in AI Overviews, AI Mode and tools like ChatGPT, which favour clear, self-contained question-and-answer content.

Keep genuine FAQ sections, drop any keyword-stuffed ones, and update any reporting that pulled FAQ data before the August deadline.
