Where Should the Share Action Go in the Widget?

Put the share action in the first four slots if your widget asks for nine or more actions. In the Gleam Giveaway Benchmarks 2026, Edition 2, paid giveaways with nine or more actions and the Viral Share Action in positions one to four had a median referral share of 10.4 percent, against 6.4 percent when it sat fifth or later, across 2,750 giveaways run by 577 businesses.

Why the widget length matters

On widgets of eight or fewer actions, the same comparison came to half a point, 8.4 percent against 7.9 percent. A share action on a short widget gets seen wherever it sits. On a long widget it is competing with eight or more other ways to earn entries, and the ones near the top get the clicks: 0.77 share-link clicks per entrant in the top four against 0.63 lower down.

How to move it

Actions appear in the widget in the order they sit on the How to Enter tab, and you can drag them into place. If you use mandatory actions, entrants see those first and the rest unlock afterwards, so a share action placed directly after the mandatory block is the first optional entry they meet. See Mandatory Actions.

What the data does not settle

Organizers choose the order themselves, so top placement may mark the giveaways whose organizers cared most about referrals rather than cause the difference. Only 2.3 percent of organizers put the share action first, too few to report that slot on its own. The number of actions by itself moved the referral share less than position did.
