What Causes Twitch 401 and 502 Errors in Gleam?

A Twitch 401 error usually clears if you try again, and a 502 error means Twitch's API is down, so you need to wait.

A 401 appears at login when Twitch doesn't pass the right sign-in details back to Gleam. A 502 appears when Twitch's own API has an outage, which stops any Twitch Action from completing. Neither one comes from your account or your Competition settings.

  1. For a 401 on login, try logging in again. It usually works on the second attempt.
  2. For a 502, wait a while and try again later. Twitch's status page shows whether they have an outage.
  3. If you're the host and your Channel Points Action isn't working, turn off Skip Reward Requests Queue in your Twitch Creator Dashboard.

If a 401 keeps coming back after several tries, send us your campaign link and a screenshot through our contact form, along with the browser you used.
