What Are the Rules for Running a Giveaway on Instagram?

Instagram's Promotion Guidelines require each entrant to give a complete release of Instagram and to acknowledge that Instagram doesn’t sponsor, endorse or administer the promotion. Put a disclaimer in every giveaway post, such as “This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram.” You must also explain how the winner will be selected and when.

The guidelines ban inaccurate tagging, so check any tagging entry against them. Meta now allows rewarding follows, but Gleam can’t verify Instagram follows automatically. Always include eligibility terms (age, location) and follow the contest laws in your jurisdiction. Where local law requires a free way to enter, add an alternate entry method. For the platform requirements, see Instagram’s official promotion policy.

Gleam generates Terms & Conditions for every Competition, and the prebuilt Instagram templates have disclaimer and terms sections built in. For the complete legal and platform checklist, read our full guide to Instagram giveaway rules.
