Utah Contest and Sweepstakes Laws

Utah's gambling offences are in Utah Code Title 76, Chapter 10, Part 11. Section 76-10-1101 defines gambling as risking something of value on an element of chance, and the definition covers a lottery. A giveaway where entrants pay and winners are drawn at random can fall inside it.

To stay outside, remove one element. Offer a free way to enter, or run a skill contest that you judge against published criteria. Our state-by-state guide and What Is an AMOE? cover both.

Gleam's Include or Exclude locations setting works with countries, so write any Utah-specific limits into your Terms & Conditions. Custom terms are on the Hobby Plan and above.

This isn't legal advice, so check with a Utah lawyer before you launch. Sources:

Ohio Contest and Sweepstakes Laws

Ohio defines a sweepstakes as a promotion where nobody pays to enter and the winner is picked by chance, so keep entry free.
