How Do I Run LinkedIn Competitions?

You can't run a giveaway on LinkedIn itself. LinkedIn's Professional Community Policies say: "You may not use LinkedIn to hold lotteries, contests, sweepstakes, or giveaways." Host it somewhere else and use LinkedIn only to share the link.

LinkedIn doesn't spell out the off-platform part, so this is the approach we recommend:

  1. Create a Competition with your prize, dates and terms. Gleam generates Terms & Conditions for every Competition.
  2. On the How to Enter tab, add actions that happen on your landing page, like Email Subscribe or Visit.

  1. Add Viral Share, so entrants earn entries when friends enter through their link.

  1. Share the link from your Company Page or newsletter, with a line saying LinkedIn isn't sponsoring, endorsing or running the promotion.
Caution

Don't ask entrants to like, comment on, share or follow anything on LinkedIn, and don't give entries for it.

LinkedIn's Advertising Policies ban sweepstakes ads, so you can't advertise a random-draw giveaway. Its contest ad guidelines only allow a contest that's free to enter, decided by skill rather than chance, and doesn't reward engagement.
