Why Can't I Enter a Giveaway When Using a VPN?
A VPN can block you from a giveaway because it makes you look like you're in a country the host has excluded.
Hosts can open a Competition to specific countries only. Gleam uses your IP address to work out where you are, and a VPN or proxy swaps your real address for one in another country. If that country isn't allowed, you'll see a message that the Competition isn't available where you are.
- Turn off your VPN or proxy.
- Reload the Competition and try to enter again.
- If you're still blocked, check your IP address with MaxMind's GeoIP demo. We use MaxMind to work out location.
- If MaxMind shows the wrong country for your real address, you can request a fix through MaxMind.
If you're the host, open your Competition's Allowed Locations setting and check which countries you've included or excluded. If you're an entrant in an allowed country with no VPN, send us the Competition link and the country you're in through our contact form.
