Why Am I Seeing a “Throwaway Account” Message When Connecting My X (Twitter) Account?
Some campaign creators enable a feature in Gleam to restrict throwaway accounts from entering their competitions. This helps ensure that entries come from genuine and active X (Twitter) users rather than temporary or automated profiles.
If you see a “throwaway account” notification when connecting your X (Twitter) account, it means your profile doesn’t meet the criteria set by the campaign owner. To improve your profile and try again, make sure you have:
- A profile image (it doesn’t need to be of you)
- A completed bio or some recent tweets
- A reasonable account age (brand new accounts may be restricted)
Once your profile looks complete, try reconnecting through the Gleam widget. Most users find that updating their account with a profile image resolves the issue.
