What Does “No Purchase Necessary” Actually Mean?
"No purchase necessary" means an entrant can take part without paying. Buying something shouldn't improve anyone's chances either. If entry depends on a purchase in a chance-based promotion, it can be classed as an illegal lottery.
To comply in Gleam:
- On any Action where entrants have to pay or donate, such as an Eventbrite ticket or a Custom Action, tick A Purchase or Donation is Required to Complete This Action.
- Gleam then adds a free entry alternative to your Terms & Conditions under Free Entry Alternatives.
- Entrants in the United States, Canada, Germany and Argentina see the free alternative. Entrants elsewhere don't, because those rules don't apply there.
