How Do I Grow My Discord Server Using Gated Content?
You can't offer gated content in exchange for joining your Discord server. Discord's Platform Manipulation Policy bans "invite rewards" and inducing server joins, and breaking it puts your server at risk.
What you can do is gate the content behind other actions, then make the content good enough that people want to join.
-
Create a Gleam Reward and choose Download or Link on the Reward tab for your guide, early build or wallpaper pack.
-
On the How to Redeem tab, add a Subscribe Action so you can email people about new drops.
-
Add Discord Entry so people can claim by logging in with Discord. Only allow accounts with verified emails is on by default to cut spam.
-
Add a Question Action asking what they'd like from your community.
-
Mention your server in the content itself, like a "talk to the devs in our Discord" line in the guide, with no reward for joining.
Don't use the Join a Server action as a requirement for your Reward, and don't reveal the content only after someone joins. Both count as inducing joins under Discord's policy.
People who join because the content was useful tend to stick around. Members who joined only for the freebie tend to leave once they've got it.
