Can I Use a Giveaway Picker With a 25 Words or Less Contest?

Not if you've promised to judge it. A 25 words or less contest is a game of skill, so the winner should be the best entry against the criteria in your terms. Draw at random and it becomes a game of chance, which can need a permit in some places (some Australian states and territories, depending on prize value).

  1. Collect entries with an Answer a Question Action, with Validate Answers on and a Max word count of 25.
  2. Publish your judging criteria in your Terms & Conditions.
  3. When it ends, read the entries on the Actions / Entries tab and make the best one your winner. Manual winners are on the Pro Plan and above.

We audit manual winner draws to make sure they're used for judging, not to manipulate results. If your terms say winners are drawn at random, use the random draw and treat the 25 words as an entry requirement only.

Caution

Rules on skill contests and permits vary by country and state. This isn't legal advice.

How Do I Run An “Answer A Question to Win” Giveaway?

Add an Answer a Question Action, type your question, and switch on Validate Answers to set a Max word count, such as 25. Then judge the answers.

Can I Offer A Contest Based On Skill to Avoid Lottery Laws?

Often, yes. If you judge winners on skill against published criteria and never draw at random, most places don't treat it as a lottery. Check your local law.
