How Can I Improve My Opt-In Conversion Rates?

Opt-in rates rise when the offer is worth the email and the form appears at the right time.

  1. Offer value. A discount code, an entry to a prize draw or exclusive content gives people a reason to sign up. Say what they get in the headline.
  2. Ask less. An email-only form asks for the least. Capture also has Email Signup and Name + Email Signup types.
  3. Pick the right moment. Open the Targeting tab and add Triggers: On Exit, Time on Page or Scrolled % of Page. Use Times Shown to avoid showing the same visitor the form too often.
  4. Match the visitor. Use Visitors, Geo-Location and Acquisition rules to show different messages by new or returning visitors, country or traffic source.
  5. Test. Use Capture's A/B testing to compare two versions.

Don't stack rules that conflict. A visitor can't be New and Returning at once, and Gleam's rule debugging guide covers common causes when a Capture doesn't show.

Sync your signups to your email tool from Settings > Integrations, so new subscribers reach your list. See Triggers.

Where Should I Place Opt-In Forms on My Site?

Use a bar at the top for general sign-ups, a timed or scroll popup on pages people browse, and an exit popup to catch visitors who are leaving.
