Do I Need to Offer a Free Entry Method?

If any way to enter costs money, like buying your paid app, then many countries, including the United States, require a free alternative method of entry (AMOE). This isn't legal advice, and the rules differ by country, so read our No Purchase Necessary guide.

Gleam doesn't add the free route until you mark the paid action:

  1. On the How to Enter tab, open the settings of the action that needs a purchase.
  2. Select A Purchase or Donation is Required to Complete This Action.
  3. We add a free entry alternative to your Terms & Conditions, and show it only to entrants in countries where No Purchase Necessary laws apply.

This setting is available on actions that can involve payment, such as Custom Action, Eventbrite and Twitch subscriber bonuses. If your paid route sits outside those actions, offer the free route yourself. Free actions like an email signup or a visit don't need one.

Does Gleam Automatically Handle AMOE For Me?

Partly. Gleam shows a free entry alternative automatically in countries where one is legally required, but only after you mark the paid action in its settings.

Can I Require A Purchase to Enter A Sales Giveaway?

In many countries, like the US, only with a free way to enter. Switch on the purchase setting on each paid Action to add a free entry alternative.
