Father's Day Giveaway Results
How the Cross Spin Father's Day Giveaway performed over 32 days in May and June 2026.
"
Gleam has been a great tool to gain followers and share the products. We have two new games coming this fall and will definitely look to start a couple more giveaways.

Chris Savino
Owner
JoPat Games is an independent tabletop game publisher in Chicago, founded by Chris Savino. It sells through its own Shopify store, and its games include Cross Spin, a board game where players race to solve mini crosswords. It’s also available as an iOS app.
For JoPat’s fourth Gleam campaign, Chris built a giveaway around Cross Spin and timed it for Father’s Day, running from mid-May to mid-June 2026.
The Actions JoPat Used
JoPat’s main goal was to grow its socials: “My main goal was to increase my follower count as well as giveaway some fun boardgames!”
JoPat offered nine ways to enter:
Play Cross Spin Daily (once a day)

The Father’s Day Results
The Father’s Day giveaway drew 376 Entrants, who completed about 7 Actions each.
Seven of the nine ways to enter were on JoPat’s social channels. Three of those asked people to follow or like JoPat: on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. The others got people looking at JoPat’s posts, videos and pages.
One of the other two was Cross Spin Daily, a free daily version of the game on JoPat’s site. Entrants could play it once a day for an extra entry, so it gave them a reason to come back to the giveaway and play the game.
“I was surprised at the amount of people that were able to find my giveaway. I definitely put the word out, but I underestimated how much people like to win!”
Chris Savino, Owner, JoPat Games
Some of those people found it on Gleam’s public giveaways page, where people go looking for giveaways to enter. About 23% of the giveaway’s Impressions came from there.

A Campaign Timed to an Occasion
Chris saw an easy link between Father’s Day and the people he wanted to reach.
“I thought Father’s Day would be the perfect opportunity to find new players interested in my crossword game. Dads + crosswords = classic combo.”
The giveaway was called “Father’s Day Game Giveaway!”, and the description pitched Cross Spin as a gift: “Cross Spin is a perfect gift for those word puzzle loving Dads.”
If you sell a game, start with who plays it, then look for a date that already has those people in mind. A family game could fit the school holidays or a party game could fit New Year’s Eve. Then use the occasion in your title, your description and your social posts, so the giveaway feels like part of the holiday and people have a reason to want to win.
A Repeatable Setup
Father’s Day wasn’t the first time Chris tied a giveaway to a date. JoPat has run four Cross Spin giveaways on Gleam, each one built around a moment in the calendar:
Back to School, in August 2025
The holidays, at the end of 2025
Mother’s Day, in spring 2026
Father’s Day, in June 2026
The structure stays much the same each time: a holiday, Cross Spin or another game as the prize, and a set of Actions built around JoPat’s social channels. That makes each new giveaway quick to set up. JoPat’s Conversion Rate went up with every campaign, from 13.4% on the first to 29.9% on Father’s Day.
“Each campaign has gotten us new followers over different platforms.”

More Than One Winner
Chris picked three winners instead of one, each getting a copy of Cross Spin.
“One winner is fun, but three is better. I thought more games gave more opportunities to win.”
The giveaway description said so up front: “This Father’s Day we are giving away games to 3 lucky winners!” If the number of winners is part of the appeal, put it where people see it first.
When your prize is your own product, an extra winner or two doesn’t cost much.

Key Growth Takeaways
JoPat Games has run four Cross Spin giveaways on Gleam, each tied to a date in the calendar. So what can you take from it for your own game?
Pick a date your players care about. Chris pitched Cross Spin as a Father’s Day gift for word puzzle loving Dads. Start with who plays your game, then find the holiday that already has them in mind.
Give away copies of your own game. JoPat gave Cross Spin to 3 winners and said so in the first line of the description. Your own product costs little per copy, so add winners and put the number up front.
Add a follow for each platform. A third of JoPat’s ways to enter were follows and likes on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, because Chris’s main goal was more followers. Add one for every platform you want to grow.
Make a free daily puzzle an Action. If you have a free version of your game, make playing it a daily Action.
Reuse the setup for the next holiday. The same structure made each of JoPat’s four giveaways quick to set up. Keep the same Actions and book the next date on the calendar.
