Custom Field Mapping + Sync

On Business plans and above we offer the ability to map any Custom Fields that you've added to your campaigns to matching fields on your connected email marketing provider.

To begin, you need to make sure that the fields you want to map already exist inside your email provider.

When the Custom Field Mapping modal appears, we'll check for existing fields, then allow you to map whatever Gleam custom field you want.

Typically, this will include:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Birthday
  • Tags
  • Address
  • GDPR Consent

There are a number of special fields you can map:

  • IP Country: Country name detected by IP
  • IP City: City detected by IP (this will not always be detected, we recommend making this optional in your email provider)
  • IP Region: Region detected by IP (this will not always be detected, we recommend making this optional in your email provider)
  • IP Country Code: Country code detected by IP (this will not always be detected, we recommend making this optional in your email provider)
  • Viral Share URL: The contestant's unique Viral Share URL, which you can use as a dynamic field when you prompt them to share the campaign in a follow-up email
  • Add Custom Value: Custom Values allow you to set a fixed value for any field (e.g. Source=Gleam, Campaign=Giveaway, etc.)

On the Business plan, Competition campaigns can have custom fields in the User Details form.

You can define any custom field in the Pre-Entry tab, such as phone number, date of birth, or address.

Custom fields can then be sent to your email provider via the Subscribe action on the How to Enter tab.

Then, from the Subscribe action, you can configure custom field mapping to your specific email provider based on the custom fields defined in the User Details form.

Caution

The custom fields will only be sent and mapped to your email provider when a Subscribe action is added to the campaign. Without the action, you'll need to access the custom field data from your User report, available via CSV export.
